Two years since the release of the popular 2018 biopic ‘Sanju’, actor Dia Mirza relives a fond memory with one of her favourite directors Rajkumar Hirani. The actor’s first biopic brought high expectations,
but with Hirani’s support Dia did justice to the role of Maanyata Dutt. Having worked with the director on ‘Lage Raho Munna Bhai’, this was their second outing together and Hirani made sure to guide every nuance of Dia’s portrayal of the real life character. Well before the script for ‘Sanju’ could be finalised, Dia was intrigued by how the story would pan out under Hirani’s influence and was pleasantly surprised to be invited for a script-reading. One session with ‘Raju Sir’ later, the actress was happily onboard. Dia credits Hirani’s relentless encouragement on the journey of empathetically playing Sanjay Dutt’s wife in the film.
